New installation help?

Hi everyone,

 

Im brand new to this and am trying to get my cart installed, but my hosting company doesn't have a public_html folder or a www folder on their server.

 

The only folder they have is called public and im not allowed to rename it due to permissions reasons I think.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's not unusual or a problem. 'public/' is just their way of stating the file path to your domain root directory.

 

So you can install osCommerce into that directory, or as many prefer, into a subdirectory named 'catalog/'.

 

The more significant question is whether your host provides PHP and MySQL, not to mention SSL ...

Yes they provide PHP, mySQL and SSL.

 

So I just install into the public folder and it will work without having to edit any of the other files?
