product attributes and buy button

Hi there,

I am new to this so please be patient. I have looked at several oscommerce websites before downloading this software.. I have a question and please accept my apologies if this has already been answered.. but the sites I looked all displayed this.

 

sample data for a shirt

size 10 colors: red, blue ?12.00

size 12 colors :green, white, orange price ?13.50

size 14 colors :red, green, pink ?14.50

 

When you go to Category-> Product why is the 'buy button' shown? as you should not be able to buy without clicking on to the image and selecting a size and color.. Which then determines the price... Is there a way to disable this or switch it off?

 

Also is there a way to set up the products pages so that you have it as illustrated above? (colors would be in a drop box) ?
