Newby Install

I have been following the instructions from http://wiki.oscommerce.com/ regarding a new installation. Everything went well until Step 5. I didn't see an option for a second user and lo options for SELECT, UPDATE, or INSERT. I installed anyway.

When I got to Step 7, I get these warnings and have NO Administration Tool:

"Warning: fopen(/home/content/a/n/d/andallwest/html/catalog/admin/includes/configure.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/a/n/d/andallwest/html/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 259

Warning: fputs(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/content/a/n/d/andallwest/html/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 260

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/content/a/n/d/andallwest/html/catalog/install/templates/pages/install_7.php on line 261

The configuration was successful!"

I do have a catalog page. I have tried this serveral times.

Warmest regards for all your help, thanks in advance.

You say you have a catalog...

Does that mean the cart comes up when you browse to catalog/index.php?

If it does what happens when you browse catalog/admin/index.php?

Just gives me the catalog page.

"www.santafefleamarket.com/catalog/control/index.php" (I changed "admin" to "control" as per instructions) gives me:

1046 - No Database Selected

select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration

[TEP STOP]

Warm appreciation for your attention and advise.

I would guess your trouble is the admin/includes/configure.php file since your install went south on ya.

I would also suggest changeing that directory back to admin at least until you get your store totally functional. You will notice that everyone refers to the directory as admin so that may be of benefit to you until you are running. Once your up and going then you can make some adjustments.

Open catalog/includes/configure.php and the settings will be very similar to the settings in admin/includes/configure.php. Use the settings in the catalog file to fix the admin file since your catalog file is working.

Or change "admin" back to admin and re-run the installer.

You know how to run the installer by now, it's like an old friend.

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Thanks folks.

You're right, the installer is something I can do in my sleep by now. but, I think I found the problem. I'm leaving the previous host because they didn't have curl. They also lost my stats when upgrading my account. That may not mean much to you, but my stats are doubling every MONTH.

Anyway, the problem is that I have been uploading to a site that hasn't propagated yet. I have been accessing it through the host's secure server and that is probably also what has been confusing the installer.

The reason I did this was to avoid any downtime. I have several domain names (.com .net and .org, etc.) that feed to the same page. I figured I would redirect some of the DNS's, upload the site to the new host, then switch the other DNS's on the weekend.

Grateful for all your help.
