DrumrLC Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Hello All, I am currently trying to optimize my website for search engines. If I search for a specific product the rankings are decent in Google. However many of the links are to pages such as shopping_cart.php or product_reviews.php. These pages send people to a blank page most of the time(or no relevant content, such as "There are no reviews for this product" or "Your cart is empty"). Any suggestions on how to get the spiders to see my product_info.php pages? Also I am curious if anyone has tips to get better listings in Yahoo and MSN. Thanks, -Brian

Guest Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Hello, There are a few things that i can think of off the top of my head. 1) Install the all products contribution and put a link to it on your homepage. 2) Use robots.txt to dissallow access to robots to the pages you don't want linked to. 3)If you are on an apache web server you could use mod rewrite to redirect the user to a more suitible page for certain pages. (be carfull with this one because it is essentialy 'cloaking' which search engines dont like !) 4) For instance on your shopping cart is empty - why not include the new products module or something else so that the customer is kept interested There are many ways you could over come this Sam
DrumrLC Posted April 28, 2004 Author Posted April 28, 2004 Thats a good start. Any suggestions on meta tags and title tags?
