Hi guys, I have had a website with intergrated shop for some time now, but the webmaster costs started spiraling so I decided to build my new site alone. I bought a dedicated server from canaca and it came with OSCommerce now I have installed this into my server using the ensim powertools and have figured out how to use the shop, however Im having some difficulties uploading images to products. The exact problem I am having is as follows:

I enter all the fields for my product then when I get to the image field I browse my computer for an image and select the image and try to preview it only to get the following error message: Error: Destination not writeable.

Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/niceshop/images/

I then tried to upload the image to the image directory via ensim and ftp but when i enter the path for the image i get the same error message.

Can anybody please advise???

Right click on your images directory - choose chmod and change the three figure value to 777.

Your online success is Paramount.

The osCommerce admin script needs to be able to write into your images folder. Assuming the path is correctly set in admin/includes/configure.php, you need to find out why the web server doesn't have write access to that folder. This is something you may need to take up with the people who provide you hosting, since every setup is slightly different.

Is that path correct for your site on the server?

Looks like you need to change the permissions on your directories.

Use your ftp program to change the read - write permissions

Dont ask me exectly how to set 'em. I am a newbeee too.
