defent Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Need to set passwords for different & new administrators. I have the module installed that lets me add administrators, admin groups & set directory permissions. But there is no place to enter a password for them. Also, when I click to have the password emailed to me for the new user I set up, I get no email. Have been searching forums for over an hour w/ no joy. Shouldn't there be a place to enter or change a password in the Administrator section? Help please. Need instructions suitable for a 3 year old. Thanks! :(
241 Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Was it the admin access with levels contribution or something else, most generate the initial password for the person that has been set up and emails it to them, whereby they then click the link in the email to go and activate the account, once this is done they can then alter the password, or you can alter the password. defent Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 I believe it was the admin access with levels contribution because that's exactly what I have. I can go into admin & set up member groups, new memebers & file access under the administration section. When I add the user it has me put in the email address. I can also set permissions for different directories but no password. & I received no email when I set it up. I want to give certain access to my client but don't want to allow them to crash the site.
241 Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Set up the group if a new group is required, then set the permissions for that group and save, then create a new member for the group and enter the details you also need to set the permissions for an individual within a group. The email is sent to the new member automatically with the password when they activate the account they will only have what access has been given to them by the set permissions, they will only see the sections that they have access to and will not see the sections that they do not have access to. defent Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 Okay. I did this again but am not receiving an email. I've checked spelling, etc. All is correct. I had this site set up & programmed by someone else. They did an excellent job but there are still a few glitches, like this one. Is there a file that tells it to send the email & where to send it to? Maybe there's a problem with this file.

defent Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 No. Registered users get their emails. But there are different files for these I think.

defent Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 Yes. I just tested it and was able to send myself and email from admin. I went into customers, selected myself and sent myself and email.
defent Posted April 22, 2004 Author Posted April 22, 2004 Does anyone have an answer for this as to why I cannot set up passwords for different admin users even though I have the contributions installed?
karcher Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Please supply a link for the admin access with levels contribution. I'm looking for one for ms2. I used administrators v1.4.6 before but can't find it again. K ..................................................................... When the going get's tough, the tough get going.
