celcon Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Hi, It's probably just me, but the home page seems a bit "confusing". It's hard to know where to home in on first. Also, I don't think the black text works well against the darker blue.
vcache Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 couple things... 1) the menu at the top...I completely missed it on first viewing (the menu right under the logo)...it is also hard to read... 2) The text in the forumboks is extremely hard to read...you might consider making it larger or changing the font 3) I like your background. Just original enough to be interesting 4) If your only going to offer one language...you should take out the language box 5) Just my opinion...but you might consider using a bit more contrast in your color scheme Contribs added: AdminLogin-Catalog With Images-Credit Class/Gift Voucher-CoolMenu EasyPopulate-LoginBox-Paypal Shopping Cart IPN-PDF Catalogs Product Listing In Columns - Image Strip -- ...the young jedi said to his master "you want me to do WHAT?"
rseigel Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Powered by Xinex Sdn. Bhd. How do you figure? Even though you also have Power with OSCommerce (nice grammar BTW) how do you figure you have the right to make a claim like that? I doubt you'l get many comments from a lot of us here as long as you try to lay claim to years of hard work by the OSC team. Ok....one comment. Site looks like crap in 800 x 600. ;)
starcam Posted April 24, 2004 Author Posted April 24, 2004 I doubt you'l get many comments from a lot of us here as long as you try to lay claim to years of hard work by the OSC team. Fixed that... I should have said, designed and implemented instead of powered by. The site may not look pretty on 800x600, but I meant it for 1024x768 and above anyways... 800x600 may just limit the amount of things I can show across... appreciate the comment though :) 1) the menu at the top...I completely missed it on first viewing (the menu right under the logo)...it is also hard to read... 2) The text in the forumboks is extremely hard to read...you might consider making it larger or changing the font 3) I like your background. Just original enough to be interesting 4) If your only going to offer one language...you should take out the language box 5) Just my opinion...but you might consider using a bit more contrast in your color scheme I meant to do something with the menu on top... I totally agree with you... too small. Initially it was bigger but it would take bigger than 1024x768 screen.. so i reduced it hence the smaller look now... but I think I will fix that... As for the language, there is plan to include chinese, japanese and korean language as well... that's why it is there... haven't found the right person to do translation for me yet :( Appreciate all the opinions, give me great feedback on what improvements I need... which i think much more ;) starcam ---------------- give your opinion on my shop: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89341
Guest Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I just looked at the home page. I still use 800x600 resolution and the site is a little overwhelming because of the side-scroll. Otherwise, I like the design. You obviously put a lot of work into it and it looks nice.
starcam Posted April 28, 2004 Author Posted April 28, 2004 Thanks for the insight Bluemoon... I really should have designed the site in 800x600 in mind. But I had to make it bigger cos I needed more space to put in more things... Nevertheless, point taken... and will thrive to have a better design in the future :) Glad you liked the design... starcam ---------------- give your opinion on my shop: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89341
starcam Posted May 4, 2004 Author Posted May 4, 2004 1) the menu at the top...I completely missed it on first viewing (the menu right under the logo)...it is also hard to read... I have fixed this and made it bigger. Please let me know if this is better. 2) The text in the forumboks is extremely hard to read...you might consider making it larger or changing the font ForumBoks fonts have been increased :) I hope this makes it more readable too. starcam ---------------- give your opinion on my shop: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89341
cdi-buy.com Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Have you ever heard of "less is more"? Obviously not.
starcam Posted May 19, 2004 Author Posted May 19, 2004 Have you ever heard of "less is more"? Obviously not. Of course you are right.. but not for all kinds of shop. My site caters to a few of my suppliers and I am obligated somewhat to do as much promotion on the site and it really comes down to what products as well. To add on, the front page only has promotion for three items at a time and the rest it OSC default. Unless you can elaborate what you meant by "less" ? Or you do not understand the site's concept? Maybe not? Thanks for letting me clarify anyways :) starcam ---------------- give your opinion on my shop: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89341
Potzblitz Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Ok, couple of things --- 1st: the site takes ages to load and that is with German DSL 2nd: I'd make the menubar in the header with roll-over buttons, so that it becomes clearer what it is - it looks just like a picture at first sight 3rd: i don't understand the "banner"? underneath that menue - what is it and what for? 4th: the login box next to the banner looks out of place. Plus it is wider than the rest of column_right. Take it out and put it in column right. 5th: there is too much information on the start-page - and though the scrolling news box is a nice idea, I personally think the background colour is appaling. I'd remove the bestsellers Box or reduce the bestsellers shown to say 3 or 5. 6th: content - it does not quite become clear what it actually is that you are selling - albums, lyrics, Books or what? Might be a good idea to state that somewhere visible at 1st sight. 7th: the Ads by google just got me confused - I THOUGHT YOU were selling Books in English on Korea ... I'd dump it... 8th: the font on your category buttons is hard to read 9th: http://www.mediaboks.com/index.php?cPath=2 reduce the boxes! It's a long way to scroll to come to the menu bar. Very confusing and hard to find. 10th: check the spelling. Artists is spelld like that. 11th: example: http://www.mediaboks.com/product_info.php?...products_id=151 Erm. Yes. Either take the trouble to enter a products description or review, or do not offer a details page. THIS does not make a good impression.... :o Sorry. You asked. Good Luck. Mel
starcam Posted May 21, 2004 Author Posted May 21, 2004 Thanks! This is something "constructive" I can work on. And don't worry, I'm not sorry I asked. That's the point of posting it here... I'll try to make the improvements/suggestions you made. As for the product descriptions page, I'm making the effort to at least have song lists in every product and the time being. 3rd: i don't understand the "banner"? underneath that menue - what is it and what for? The banner is something I had to do for the singer feature there in return for our website to be printed on her album. 7th: the Ads by google just got me confused - I THOUGHT YOU were selling Books in English on Korea ... I'd dump it... I thought that wasn't a good idea too... will get rid of it. starcam ---------------- give your opinion on my shop: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89341
