Zuncan Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 :( Problem! Hi. Me and my buddy would like to bring our store out on the internet as well. Im realy familiar with HTML (knows it all), but this is something completly new for me. Is there some tutorial for noobies like me? I downloaded oscommerce and unpacked it, but within the folder that it gave me, I just cant see how to open the webpage (no index file). There is loads of php files that my windows xp cant recognize. Do I need a server first to be able to see the site and configure it. I bet that if i just knew where to start, the rest would come by itself. Please help me. Im desperat! / John Sundqvist (sweden) So what?! Who care in a hundred years anyway?
Tjobbe Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 you can open it in notepad / dreamweaver to edit it..
bluepony Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 The best place to get started is here: http://wiki.oscommerce.com/docsInstall I'd rather be flying!
Guest Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 You need a server that supports PHP and mysql. Once you have that if you are good with HTML its not that hard at all. --G
agiftcodotcom Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 To add to the above post, some host accept MySql and PHP, but you might have to load their "engines" or whatever your server may call it. That happened to me with my previous host. Also, with my last host, you want to make sure they can provide you with an SSL. Which my last host could do.... for $200 more... hence... I have a new host :D . Contributions I used : Updated 06-13-04 23:42 ---------------- Vote on My Graphis Poll
