vintageland Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I'm looking to add 2checkout into my website as the primary payment option over paypal and mail order. I am doing this to utilize their instant credit card processing. What I'm having reservations about is their fees. It is $0.45 plus the 5.5% final purchase fee. These fees are so much more than paypal. What kills me is the $0.45 fee because my items (t-shirts) are only 15.99 so that's really cutting into my profits. So what I'm wondering is your opinions of 2checkout or a suggestion of another merchant. Also is it just a matter of turning it on in the administration in order to get it to work? Is the setup pretty smooth? Thanks as always.
rseigel Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 While 2checkout is far from perfect it's 100000000x better than paypal. Once your volume warrants it you really need your own merchant account. Typically $1000+/month seems to be the magic number to make it worthwhile. Credit card fees are part of the cost of doing business. If it cuts into your profits too much raise your prices.

rseigel Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I just prefer to avoid the really bad reputation Paypal has. I'd rather not associate my businesses with that. Personal preferance more than anything I suppose. ;)
celcon Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 I offer three types of payment on my site, 2CheckOut, PayPal and Cheque. So far most of my sales have been through PayPal. I was actually quite suprised by this, I thought most people would go for the credit card option over PayPal, but there you go.
