"Out of stock" passthrough

Hey all. Quick question. On the checkout_shipping.php file I added a small section with 4 radio buttons. Basically its "what do you want to do if the item is out of stock". I need to get it to pass through to invoice and customer details.

 

Can anyone point me in the right/best direction?

in the admin area of osCommerce, you can enable checkout even if the items are out of stock. any reason for programming something like this if you want them to checkout with an item out of stock? be easier with the one builtin to the osCommerce software.

Thanks, I am aware of that feature. This is just a small text field that we need to pass through for the way that the business deals with out of stock item. ie.

 

-Hold order until complete

-ship items in stock and back order items out of stock

-ship items in stock and cancel items out of stock

-contact me for further instructions.

 

Im just curious as to the steps necessary and also the best way to get this to pass through to invoice and customer details.

After looking at this for a bit. Im wondering just how complicated it will be. Any guides/hints on adding a field in checkout that sticks with the user and ends up on invoice?
