bettysue Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I asked the same message last week in a different thread ;-) This was the reply I got: "GD is an extension that can be installed with PHP. You can find out more by visiting: http://www.boutell.com/gd/ " Betty
Guest Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks, what I'm trying to do is to control the proportion of thumbnails. I was trying to install Thumbnail Generator and it said you had to have GD installed. Can I install GD from the web or does it need to be installed from the server and is there a better way to control the proportions of thumbnails. ...Chris
bettysue Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 from what I understood from reading the GD support site, it is normally installed when the server owner installs php. It used to be a manual install before v4 (I think) of php, however now it is built in and is a command line that can be given during install. Your best bet is to ask your server provider if it was installed. I am also having a hard time getting any decent thumbnails to show, and have installed about 3 different contributions, only to have them still look bad and had to do complete new installs again. My server does have GD installed, so that wasn't the issue. I think the main problem I have is with the instructions being a bit more tailored for those with php knowledge and more osCommerce knowledge than I have. Betty
Guest Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Thanks Betty, I think I will just use PayPal for now instead of osCommerce. I will try it again when I have more time. ...Chris
