twirlyduck Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 I bought a domain and site space and one of the perks they offer is osCommerce and you fill in a couple of blanks and it gets installed. However, none of the links worked, the pictures didn't appear (the URL paths there were wrong too). When I went to the admin area all I got was 404 errors when trying to go to 'Tools' or any of the other selections. I noticed that when I hit the link, the URL looked weird: http://shelfimprovement.com/<INSTALLDIR...ac49b1124959de9 Notice the "<INSTALLDIRSLASH>" smack in the middle of it? Is what they're using to install it faulty, or are they using it incorrectly? Please let me know so I can let the site host provider know. Thanks
Chris Dunning Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 I would strongly suggest you clean out your webspace, download a fresh copy of osCommerce from this site, and use the built-in installer. Many hosts keep old copies of osCommerce to pass out to their customers and the install scripts they provide are notoriously faulty. You'll need to know a little bit more information about your setup this way, but it shouldn't be anything you can't get from a phone call to your host. You can find the .zip files in the downloads section of this site. Best to go with the latest Milestone package - the CVS may or may not be stable (it changes daily).
