spib Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Hey Guys, I've been working on an OSC-based store for a client for a couple of weeks now and I could use some feedback. The store is not open yet so any orders will not be fulfilled. There is one product under the 'Test' catagory which has a price of ?0.01 so if you wish to test the Paypal payments please use that product. As the store is still being evaluated by my client it doesn't have a 'real' catalog as of yet so there's no need to point out that the store is a little short of products! Any comments about the layout, colours, errors etc will all be useful though. The store URL is http://www.zoez.co.uk/index.php Cheers
spib Posted April 19, 2004 Author Posted April 19, 2004 Getting lots of views but no feedback, has no-one got any opinions about my site (good or bad) ? :(
Guest Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 A little to pink for my taste. One thing I noticed that I like is that there is virtually no scrolling down on the site except for the "new products in April section on the home page. Here we go; Does ZoeZ.co.uk Share the Information It Receives? Absolutely not. The information you give to ZoeZ.co.uk is not shared with anyone. How do you ship the product if you do not share the information with the post office? I like your changing picture on the home page. The text is boring, maybe try a new font. "Type security code here:" on your create account page is missing the VVC graphic. I like your security box. If it had "click to verify" that would be better. On your test product at the bottom where it says "select" with the drop down box. My first reaction was that was for "size" not "quantity". Maybe make that a bit clearer. There is still a lot of work to be done on sizing and colours (if applicable) to help people easily purchase the products. That is all I could find, sorry. Peter
spib Posted April 20, 2004 Author Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks for the critique peter. I've temporarily disabled the VVCode as there seems to be a problem with the GD library on my server so thanks for pointing that out. Just to clarify a couple of points that you made. One thing I noticed that I like is that there is virtually no scrolling down on the site except for the "new products in April section on the home page Are you saying that the page doesn't scroll enough?? The less the site scrolls the better I would think? Also, because there aren't many products in at the moment, there is not a tremendous amount of content. When I get more products in, no doubt the page will need to scroll. There is still a lot of work to be done on sizing and colours (if applicable) to help people easily purchase the products. What do you mean by this? I know the site is a little 'girly' but then that is what my client wants because she believes it will appeal to her target audience. What I'm not sure about is why you think this will prevent people from purchasing the products? Thanks for your input so far, this is really useful to me :)
spib Posted April 21, 2004 Author Posted April 21, 2004 Any more remarks from you folks? I've removed the Bestellers and What's new infoboxes at the request of my client but I think it looks a little bare now. What do you guys think?
tdupres Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Hi Just had a look at the site and its looking good! The pink is a just fine as it reflects the logo colours bringing the brand name right to the front! Nice! The only sugestion I can think of is perhaps you have a little too much white space over the right hand side? Perhaps? Maybe you could limit the shop size to say 750 pixals, and centre, and drop it about 20 pix so it sit dead centre. On the other hand this entirely depends on your clients plans for the site, so you may need that white space. All in all I think the colours and graphical elements work great! Good one! Toby
Guest Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Are you saying that the page doesn't scroll enough?? No scrolling is a good thing, IMOThere is still a lot of work to be done on sizing and colours (if applicable) to help people easily purchase the products. There is no reference to what sizes are available and a sizing chart would be good. So people know what size to order ie Small, Med, Large, etc. Or is it "one size fits all". Nice site :) Peter
spib Posted April 21, 2004 Author Posted April 21, 2004 The only sugestion I can think of is perhaps you have a little too much white space over the right hand side? Perhaps? I totally agree. My client asked me to remove a lot of the content which was in the right hand column so it looks really bare now. I'm toying with idea of moving the shopping cart to the left column and ditching the right column totally. Still not sure though :)

Yes, that information is lacking at the moment simply because my client hasn't given it to me. Rest assured the info will be added when the full catlog has been inserted. Thanks for the comments.

Still not sure though :) Hi If you do move the shopping cart then I think restricting the page size would be a real benifit. I belive this would frame the site in such a way the the eye is drawn to the most promenant focal point (the ladies!) and the shifted left to the second focal point (menu and logo). All framed by a white border, with the pink bars to indicate the edge of the store. Have a look at what i mean here: My Webpage Toby P.s Very unfinished site so don't laugh! :D
Guest Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 tdupres I was looking at that also and would agree with you on moving the shopping cart but the product pages still have "reviews" and "product notification" so they would have to be moved also or it would catch people off gaurd to all of a sudden find a right colum there.
tdupres Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Hi Peter I see exactally what you mean! It would be confusing.
spib Posted April 21, 2004 Author Posted April 21, 2004 Excellent Ideas guys, thanks. Take a look at the site again now and see what you think. Basically, I've enclosed the site in a table and removed the right column. All the boxes which were in the right column have been moved to the left. I think it works. What do you think?
tdupres Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Looks great! Just wish I could work with those kind of images! :D Toby
