wiredbox
hi osCommerce pips! wiredbox here...just landed. i'm a multimedia designer, i'm about to venture to database thing, which i don't have any idea, only because my friend wants to start a medium scale on-line store. though confusing as hell to me, i feel that i might learn something new here. so, anybody can extend a hand...a coding hand. ♥Vger
I started with osCommerce, but quickly realised that building/rebuilding/redesigning an osCommerce site online is a time consuming thing. Far better to install a server on your own computer, install osCommerce to that, make your changes (much quicker) and then upload when ready to go. You'll need the following:- 1. PHP installed on your computer. 2. PHPMyAdmin installed. 3. MySQL installed 4. A web server installed. My recommendation, especially as you're new to this is not to install Apache but to install Xitami, by imatix.com, (works the same but is a much smaller download and easier to install). You then download and unzip oscommerce to c:\xitami\htdocs\yourfolderhere, and access it via http://localhost/yourfoldername Have fun. I did.
