intelliweb Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 In the search engine for a site that I am developing, If you type "yankees", 68 items come up. If you type "new york yankees" nothing comes up. Shouldn't it still recognize yankees? If anyone has any suggestions please let me know on how to make it search for "new or york or yankees" by default instead of "new and york and yankees" Thanks Ben
rseigel Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 The default is "and". If you want to change it to "or" do it in your admin panel.
wizardsandwars Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Of course, if you chagne it to 'or' and your type in 'New York Yankees', then you'll also get results for 'New England Patriots'. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
rseigel Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 I was also going to mention that "or" is a poor choice..... :D
diginn Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 ok....so where IS the option to change it to "OR".....I looked in the control panel, but couldn't find it. Also, why won't it search for everything you enter? Thanks-
diginn Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 NEVERMIND! I found it..........but do you HAVE to put a AND or OR inbetween words? Seems a bit much to tell a user.....
diginn Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 The OR seemed to fix my problem completely! Thanks a TON!!!
diginn Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 Now that that's talken care of, how do I solve the "s" problem? If you enter "keychains" it shows no results, but if you put "keychain" it comes up with choices. Suggestions?
