nrlatsha Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 do you get an error message of sorts? 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine...
rgibson Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 No, None If I go directly to /localhost/catalog/install/install.php it returns an HTML page that is blank. looking at the HTML it's just the <html> <title> <Head> and closing tags
nrlatsha Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 It's been a while since i've installed, but did you try the index.php file in there as well? 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine...
plauni Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 I had the same problem. Restarting Apache and MySQL Services solved the problem for me.
rgibson Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Running SAMBAR 6.01 ON Win2K Pro Works Fine in every other aspect... Have Rebooted, reinstalled, reconfigured, shaved, and combed my hair :) again, I have other .PHP scripts running that are working fine Running the PHPINFO.PHP, shows that PHP is installed and working! MySQL appears to be working, as I created the osCommerce DB without a problem. even though I had to do it from the Command Line...
Promcu Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 I've just try to install the osCommerce on my computer running Apache, MySql and PHP fine. I filled out the information at the first page, then I filled out on the second page about the directories. After then It returns to the first page again, if I try to do is allover again the server gives me error. Can you tell me why It goes back from the second page (second step) ? Thanx
rgibson Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 I would love to, but I can't even get to the first page, and apparently there is nobody in this forum that can help me. I don't mean to sound condescending, but this has been going on for several days now, and I have not had a ?senior member? or ?guru? jump in to help. In an Install & Config Group of all places, I would think there would be lots of INSTALL questions?. Randy
Promcu Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Hi, is there any documentation for osCommerce installation that we can go through the steps of installing either on our own OS or on the internet? Please help us beginners. Thank you.
nrlatsha Posted April 16, 2004 Posted April 16, 2004 I can't speak for the rest of the board, but for me, I installed OSC a long time ago, I don't install it every day, so I don't know the in's and out's of installation. Seriously, how many times do you need to install something. Did you wait a whole hour from your initial post before: rgibson Posted on Apr 15 2004, 10:14 AM I would love to, but I can't even get to the first page, and apparently there is nobody in this forum that can help me. I don't mean to sound condescending, but this has been going on for several days now, and I have not had a ?senior member? or ?guru? jump in to help. In an Install & Config Group of all places, I would think there would be lots of INSTALL questions?. Did you look through the rest of install and config forum to see if anyone else had your problem? We also expect some level of self-help. The install worked fine for how many users on this board? Sure, some had problems, but they figured it out. The install routine works good, I know it does, MS2 at least. If you expect the problems with your free cart to get solved by this forum every time, you need a different ecommerce solution with 24/7 tech support. Sounds like a problem from your own server. At this point there is no config files to modify, no SQL database needed, that gets created later. So, there is no SQL connection and no other configuration options available, what does it sound like to you? Set me up with a terminal services account and DA password and I can look at it for you if ya'd like. There is a set of documents to read as well:http://wiki.oscommerce.com/docsInstallNew Theres also a search button on this page that allows you to search the forum. From what I've noticed, alot of the questions that go unanswered have been asked a million times. I imagine if I do a search for this, I might find 5000 other threads with the same question. :o 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine...
