PTBeads Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004  This may sound very silly, but how do you make your site "live"? I've looked in the user guide and did some searches, but don't know what I'm not doing. My first page says "This is a default setup of the osCommerce project, products shown are for demonstrational purposes, any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional." Is it just a matter of changing that text, or what? I have my products loaded in, so I just don't want to have a site up that doesn't do anything. I'm so confused, it's not even funny. Thanks
TonyN Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Your site is live. Look down below the section you mentioned and it will tell you which file to modify to remove the default text and add your own. -TN
johnmc Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Heh! I asked the very same question a week or so ago, Dianna, so we're in a Club together! Unless your site is on a local testing machine, it's already "live"... but with a health warning on the front page: "Don't buy - I ain't ready!!!" Seriously, this lack of "basic noob" info is the one shortfall in all of the Forum posts and Wiki documentation that I have been scouring over the last few weeks. It's a "comprehension" thing. Don't get me wrong, the Forums/Wiki etc are all really cool stuff (Kudos to all you guys and gals), and have been very helpful to me in finding my way around the nuts and bolts of osc. But that, for a lot of complete noobs to e-commerce (like me), is part of the problem - just because I can read a manual and find the correct nuts etc to tighten, doesn't mean I can drive a car, does it? So, with that in mind, can anyone point all of us clueless potential merchants (and designers) to a general "How it all hangs together" guide? A-Z of fulfilling an order... From Browser to your doorstep? John MC
PTBeads Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks, I figured it was an easy solution! B)
