guntersammet Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 JUST MOVING THIS FROM ANOTHER THREAD: I'm not sure why, but it says I can't start a new topic in this forum. I am a registered user, I just signed up. hmmmm.. well I hope someone can help me, I fear that when it comes to ecommerce, I know nothing. I am a web designer and have a few clients that want a storefront. I've never done this before. osCommerce was recommended to me by a few people so I downloaded it. I tried to upload it to my server and the whole catalog file will not upload. Yes i have plenty of available space. I'm assuming that in order to install oscommerce I need to upload it to view the install file. Can someone please tell me if I'm doing this wrong or what I need to do. As I said I am VERY new to ecommerce. My server does indeed support PHP so that is why I'm confused as to why the file won't totally upload. I'm not even sure if I'm uploading into the proper directory. I uploaded it to what I thought was the root.. not into my public html directory. If anyone can give me some help as to what I'm doing wrong, and also why I can't start a new topic on this board it would be greatly appreciated.
guntersammet Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 The original post came from Sharon. I just moved it: Sharon: After you uploaded osCommerce, did you try to run the install script? If no, did you do anything else? IF not, try if the install script works: <your url you uploaded the shop>/catalog/install/index.php If that doesn't work, could you post some more info on what messages you got? HTH Gunter
rseigel Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Just a random thought but: You actually have "clients" that are willing to pay you when you can't even manage to FTP a script to the server? I need some clients like that! Start here: http://wiki.oscommerce.com/ Sorry....I know that was insulting but it just struck me as bizarre. ;)
