bluepony
Just double checking.... Did create a .htpasswd file with your username and an encrypted password? Is that the correct path? i.e. some servers is "/www/" or "/usr/ " I'd rather be flying!
Guest
yes I did create a .htpasswd file with my username and an encrypted password. I generated this by a program so maybe my route is wrong, what do you think. Should it be a route like this : "/www/4printing/ ???
Guest
I have put the .htpasswd file in the route and the .htaccess file in the directory that requires the password. I cannot work it out as the window pops up ok yet it will not accept the password. Arrghhhhhhhh!!!!
bluepony
Is it giving you three attempts? I would generate another password just to be sure. One time I had my capslock turned on when I create the password and had it turned off when trying my password. Took me a while before I realized what had happened. I'd rather be flying! Guest
Yes it was giving 3 attempts Before I do that should the 'AuthUserFile' give the exact route to the .htpasswd file??
bluepony
Yes, it should have the full path. If you website is hosted, I would check with them to make sure you have the proper path. I've seen sites where the actual server path was "/www/usr/m1/advantage/.htpasswd/" so "/advantage/.htpasswd" would fail. I'd rather be flying!
