backup function

Quick question.

 

When I use the backup function, that saves ALL my files starting in what directories? The root or my catalog folder? Does it also save the database or do I haev to use phpAdmin for that one also.

 

Thanks this should save me time since transfering the whole thing by ws_ftp takes a while.

If you are referring to the Admin tool "Database Backup", don't be surprised to learn that this stores a backup of the database and nothing else (not the files or images). The backup file(s) have a .sql extension and is stored in a folder named "backup" within the "admin" folder.

 

The database backup feature is handy and quick, but it is no substitute for full backups of your store on a local drive in case the server goes down or files are corrupted on it.

Thanks, I thought that was the case. Whats the fastest ftp client to transfer all of my files? WS_FTP takes a while.
