wvmlt Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 I have an order that has status PayPal Processing. When I go into te PayPal IPN and check transactions, this order isn't listed. Did the buyer not complete the order? Is he trying to rip me off? Was there a problem with PayPal? All other orcers show up when I view the IPN transactions. Keith What the hell was I thinkin'?
♥Vger Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Did the customer return automatically to your site when the transaction was complete? If they didn't then the details won't appear in your database. Also, have you altered the 'status' listings in your admin panel? They usually come preinstalled as 'Pending' and 'Completed'. Hope this helps - Vger
wizardsandwars Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 It means that the customer got to the confirmation page, but never completed the purchase. However, it should have appeared in your paypal IPN section of OSC. Perhaps there is a problem with that screen. The fact that it is showing up in your orders screen means it made it there. The fact that it is still in PayPal Processing status means that you never received payment. Using the IPN modul, when you receive payment, the status is updated from paypal processing to pending. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. wvmlt Posted April 14, 2004 Author Posted April 14, 2004 It definitely never made it to paypal because no payment was received. Other orders show in the IPN transactions so I don't think the problem is there. I wonder if I should email the guy and ask if he encountered a problem or just changed his mind? Keith What the hell was I thinkin'?
wizardsandwars Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 With the IPN module, the order are entered into the database as soon as the customer hits the confirmation page, unlike other payment modules where the order is not entered until payment has been made. Thus, you will see orders from time to time where the customer got to the confirmation page, but decided not to complete the purchase, for whatever reason (shipping charges too high, don't like paypal, etc.). It's probably not a bad idea to contact these customers, however, I wouldn't expect that they did anything other than change their minds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. wvmlt Posted April 14, 2004 Author Posted April 14, 2004 I suppose if he wants it bad enough, he'll let me know. Wouldn't want to spam the guy. Thanks for you explanation. Keith What the hell was I thinkin'?
wizardsandwars Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 I never considered it spam to contact customers that have expressed enough interest to sign up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.
