dmarre Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 I have just installed PHPBB2 forum on my server and works great. Since oscommerce is my primary account holder for users to log into my online shop, i was wondering if there was a way that i can incorporate the accounts to be looked up by PHPBB2 so as the user does not have to create another account on that side. They could just use their oscommerce account to access the forum. I'm sure i would just have to change some code or something but just not sure. Thanks. Quote
Goanna Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 there is a contribution by Oldpa to do this, and also a great support thread on it. Be warned though, the installation is quite tedious. So much so that I stopped half way through a while back, and never continued. At that time there was a lack of insturctions and the files were not complete though, so maybe now it wont be as hard. dmarre Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Yeah i saw that when i was looking for ideas, but what i was trying to do was to run the forum and oscommerce separately and have the phpbb2 forum use the customer accounts created from oscommerce to log in to phpbb2. What i'm trying to achieve is a support forum where the users ask questions on products or other technical questions they may have, but can only be answered by our technicians and not other customers. Basically, users can post but can't reply. I'll try the OLDPA contribution as it would be cool to have the oscommerce header available so they can still browse our e-commerce site. It any ideas let me know. Thanks. Quote

Customers ask questions that only you can see, no other customers, then you reply, etc. Its all private. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...earch,help+desk http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...l/search,ticket Quote
dmarre Posted May 11, 2004 Author Posted May 11, 2004 I looked at that but not what i was looking for. I want the customers or other internet browsers to be able to view and search for help, but they can't reply to any customer questions, only our technicians. Thanks. Quote
