limiting items to more then one page

ok .. i want to know if it is a setting i ma missing or is it a added code that lets you have your items on more then one page...

example if you go to yourstore.com click one one of the catagories and then look where it shows your items for sale it shows every item in that catagory on one page?

what if you have 100 items in one catagory it loads all 100 items in the on catagory?

 

i want to know if i can change it so when customers come to the site they dont have to wait for an entire catagory to load maybe sort it out into 10 pages of 10 itmes each
