raybreakall Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 I already have a website created and I originally thought it would be simple to simply place the catalog within a table in the "middle" of my website. It has proven to not be that easy. I know nothing about php other than it is like using html with "special" tags. I am very familiar with html but not php. It also seems to be very granular in configuration and overwhelming and non-intuitive to edit. Can anyone get me started in taking the entire catalog and placing it within a table on my existing website design? I have a header with links directly below and then some very intricate tables below that. Thanks in advance, Ray
stevel Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 I haven't used it myself, but Simple Template System would seem to be your best hope. Good luck, this is one of the more difficult things to do with osCommerce. usmedia Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Simple Template System (STS) is AWESOME! I am a downright novice with OSC and was able to install STS and get a graphical layout implemented pretty easily. Make sure and read the readme file as there is a simple little text to add and get STS to function. It really is a great contribution. John
raybreakall Posted April 12, 2004 Author Posted April 12, 2004 Thanks Steve, I will check that out. From reading the description of it, it sounds like exactly what I need. Seems like it would be easier somehow though... :-) Ray
usmedia Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Once you try STS you will find that your entire layout is controlled through a single HTML file (page). Believe me, it doesn't get any easier than that. Once done, you are just adding products for a database driven website with your own custom look. It is really nice. One of the best mods I have seen for OSC. Great if you are like me and get lost trying to manage the CSS and multitude of php files in OSC. John
raybreakall Posted April 12, 2004 Author Posted April 12, 2004 Sounds great! I look forward to customizing now!
