Adding/Expanding Product Details (mySQL/page call)

After loading oscommerce up, I plan to completely strip the look down and move everything around to fit the look of my site. This should prove rather interesting as I seek out what does what and ensure I alter the look correctly.

What I need to know though and am myself lacking the skill to achieve and the confidance to jump right in with...

1) mySQL database: Which table in the database would I need to add fields for...There are 9 tables relating to products. Some seem to fit by way of product_description, just double checking.

2) Which page/s would need to be modified (If any) to display the new variables

Thanks for any assitance...also looking to modify the price structure so it provides several prices online. Rather than based on percentages, have fixed prices called from an include file.

prior to modifying the database, etc you would do better to learn what is going on with the current program. dont change any tables at first, read the documentation.

Thats pretty much what I'm doing now, opening each page and tracking the various include files to determine what they do (Assuming I can work it out). Most I'm happy just to leave alone, being mainly concerned with layout initially, after that, I'll be looking to upgrade the abilities for oscommerce...rather egotistical I know what with how wonderful it all ready is (Almsot exactly what I was after)...but some areas need to be improved, for personal preferance if nothing else, starting with additional product details, and followed by modification if feasable of the product prices being displayed.

Layout I can do, programming...thats a little scarrier.

Still after a year and a half of self teaching from some dodgy books, I'm getting a grip on things, just started looking at mysql the other day, so hopefully I'll have some idea soon as to how to go about doing exactly what I need to do...got the domain names, the website and now a great e-commerce app...next...the world.

:-)
