JynMeyer Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 In my catalog I am recieving this familiar error: Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/mydomain/public_html/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. However, when I CHMOD it differently, it gives me the error that it cannot write to that file stating I need to set permissions? Which am I supposed to do? -Jyn =======,+'^'+,=============================== Jyn Meyer `+,.,+' Be Glad the world sucks- if it didn't we would all fall off. ===========================================
Almirena Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 If you've tried setting the permissions using an FTP (right-click on file or folder), and it doesn't work, then I believe you need to contact your server's host.

No, setting the permissions works, it's the error message that is conflicting... One minute it tells me it can't write to the config file and to change permissions, and then once I set the permissions writeable- it tells me the config file is writeable and a security risk and to please change it. Basicly, it's telling me to set it writeable and not writeable at the same time. I think it's having an identity crisis. Maye the error code is just bored or lonely and it wants attention, so it's just doing it the only way it knows how... -Jyn =======,+'^'+,=============================== Jyn Meyer `+,.,+' Be Glad the world sucks- if it didn't we would all fall off. ===========================================

Heh. :-) -Jyn =======,+'^'+,=============================== Jyn Meyer `+,.,+' Be Glad the world sucks- if it didn't we would all fall off. ===========================================

Guest Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 the file needs to be writeable during installation, after that when installation is done, needs to be 644. you will get the error showing writeable after installation, before changing permissions back to 644
TripleCross Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 I am having the same problem. I changed my permissions, even wiped them all out to see if it would go away. It didn't. Can someone please help?
