ocemian Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I currently have an existing product database in MySQL with about 15 different tables that contain over 3000 products that we sell online. I am wanting to switch over to osCommerce and would like to know if there is anyway to utlize our existing database tables as they are already designed. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Roger
Guest Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 you will need to change the tables, etc, your best bet is to export your sql database from the current store, then place it into an excel spread sheet, modify the fields and then import to osCommerce via Easy Populate.
stigc8 Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 I am currently trying to do the same with, also with over 3000 products. I am experiencing huge issues, as the site loads EXTREMELY slow, we are talking minutes to show the index page. For some reason, definitely on the database sides of things, our products end up being subcategories. We have approximately 1000 subcategories as well........ Any idea on how we can solve this problem? The main issue is that we organize our database by relating not only a product id, but a product id with an item number.....I don't know if oscommerce is going to work for us :( any ideas would be appreciated
