Ok from view source this shows me that you will need to remove the two closing div tags from the footer.php

this should realign your footer then once the page is looking the right shape you can remove the black line by changing the line in the header.php

The main concern I was having was as posted that the person we were both trying to help would get confused with which codes to use and that the use of part of one code and part of another code would not work,

yes you are correct about the 720 which would have been addressed at the same time as removing the extra closing tags td and tr and the two nb spacers which will be required to be removed from the right hand side

I would guess that you are busy changing the stylesheet, the colours are almost a match to my site, I would also further guess that you altered the index.php where the include for the footer is in order to bring the footer bar inwards as when you go to some of the other pages the footer is as i would have expected it to be across the width of the table, click on shipping for an example

there is an issue in two areas of your code but as yet I have not tracked it down, you have the issue of the footer bar, however you also have the issue with the right hand column shopping cart box appearing lower down the page on the index this will be due to a tag out of place somewhere, however is not so easy to track down from here.

 

Choices continue posting in the chance to fingd the code or if willing box up your files and email them to me to put on my local machine to work on. I would not require the configure.php files nor the sql database.

 

meantime lets start at the top post your entire header.php column_left.php column_right.php and footer.php I do not expect the issue to be in either the header or footer as they appear correct on other pages as does the left and right column, this led me to believe the only issue is with the index.php

 

first try this backup your catalog/index.php and replace with this standard catalog/index.php

BTW, your footer needs repair.

The footer file as has been posted is a standard footer.php file with no changes and if you read the posts you would have found that it has been posted that the footer is ok on the other pages, also that this is not the main issue, of which has been brought about from code alterations, of which there have been discrepencies in the header.php and as posted the issue is also with the upper right hand column shopping cart being out of position.

 

The resolve is to get the files back to a known good condition and then work from there, whereby if the footer issue remains then I would instruct to place this bit of code in

 

catalog/includes/application_top.php

 

on the line below <?php at the very beginning of the file, add

It is funny how sometimes we miss things that are staring us blind in the face, the issues were all being caused by that initial file that was edited, just as well that you re posted that file by mistake, as I was scratching my head having gone systematically through the files used for the front page and not being able to replicate the issue on my machine, the only file I had not transfered was the catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

 

Now that that is sorted, have you thought about customising the individual boxes giving them there own style and maybe graphics headers, a pack of cards here and a top hat there maybe even a fluffy bunny or a dove from your header or some flames perhaps.
