Friend of mine asked me to look into this problem -- today is the first time I hear about oscommerce.com Someone else installed this app and configured. It was working b4 and does not anymore, somehow. He wantes to update store catalogs by navigating to /catalog/admin/index.php Login window pops-up: he eather does not have a correct login or something is wrong with application configuration. I have server login, but cannot find any user configuartion files there. I am not even sure where to look for it. Anyone knows what am I talking about? I probably don't :blink:

Thank you in advance

If you are getting a request for ID and password entry from the server, that is not an osCommerce problem or issue.

Apparently the admin directory was given protected status (a reasonable thing to do) by setting that up through the server control panel or by Apache directives. To get past this point, you must either find out a valid ID and password, or gain access to the server to set up a new pair.

zzfritz;

You are probably correct. I am working on it. Is that contolled by the folder permission setting on the server? Cause, I have tryed to set a new user with r/w permissions but it does not help me. Where else do I set new users?

It is difficult to advise you without knowing more about what kind of access you have to the server (control panel, FTP client or what), and the nature of the server account (shared host?).

Password protection is not just a permission setting for the folder.

I have both control panel and FTP client access and I am not sure what is the nature of the server account. What I expected to see was UI where I can manage all users. Plus, shouldn't there be an "Ultimate user" account?

zzfritz, you been very helpful so far -- gave me a few good ideas.
