thecodingmonkey Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 I may be wrong on this, and this is mostly just for the higher ups to think about, but a recent post in here made me think, We should have a job or work related forum on here so that people looking for pay help can get it as well as to keep advertisers and money seekers out of the main forums give a shout out everyone I just want to know what you all think. agree or disagree???
Guest Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 are you looking for getting jobs or are you looking for help? this is not the reason the forum is here. there are enough spots/sites out there where people can go to to get programming help/hire someone.

This is just my opinion you can take it how you like

Guest Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 This was tried in the past - we had a "Seeking Commercial Help" forum channel. It did not benefit the osCommerce project in the manner expected - the contribution of code or donations to osCommerce did not rise significantly (if at all). The forum channel was also abused by larger companies who used it as a means to harvest a pool of developers they could use to their own ends, with nothing being returned. I had some nice SPAM in my pm box on Tuesday from a developer who had never even posted to the forums - this account was immediately suspended. While it is not against forum rules to respond privately to those specifically asking for commercial help, it is not permitted for developers to post offers ("email me" etc.) to the forums or to SPAM other users via pm or email. Whether such a channel is reinstated or not remains to be seen. Forum users are also free to approach Team Members if they so desire. Matti osCommerce Team Member

I greatly appreciated your input and it answered a few of my other questions as well.
