updmike Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 DOnt know if I am allowed to ask this in this forum but any advice is execlent.. Creating a new store in Ontario Canada and setting up my tax classes and shipping taxes.. I am a store in Ontario , do I charge Harmanized tax (HST) for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland? and do i also do this for the shipping? or do i simply charge GST... augh, those crazy cunnucks.. Help if you can.. thank..
Guest Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 If you products are taxable then you only charge PST for residents of Ontario, GST would be charged (if products are taxable) for every province. There is tax on shipping but that is just GST if my memory is correct. You do not have to charge HST for any province. This is just my opinion and you really should get the information from the provincial and federal tax offices also, or your tax accountant. Forums are not really the place to get tax/legal advice for you business. Ask your bank for a book on starting a small business in Ontario, lots of valuable information. When you apply for you Vendor's Permit (PST) they will answer all your Provincial Tax Questions and the same when you apply for your GST number. You will also want to check out PIPEDA. What type of products are you going to be selling? Okay I just found out the answer <_< Peter HTH The tax is not as bad as you think, just a couple of forms and that is it. Set it up right on your accounting and it takes about 30 minutes a year to fill out the paperwork.
