Guest Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Hi There, After running my business on OScommerce for 2 weeks, i have just found out that some paypal orders are going astray. What happens is that the customer obviously completes checkout and pays us, however, there is then no record of the order. Quite a problem for customer services etc. Whether we lose any orders for COD or cheque sales i am not sure as i have no way of finding out. Also, people keep e-mailing me saying that the links in the e-mails we send do not work, for example, the e-mail saying thanks and that you can see your invoice here etc. Can anyone shed any light on these problems or at least tell me where to look for the root of the problem? All help greatly appreciated with thanks. Best Regards A very worried Paul
Guest Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Have i posted this in the wrong place? Or is it that know one knows an answer to my problem or that i have not explained myself correctly? Ciao Paul
ozcsys Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Have i posted this in the wrong place? Or is it that know one knows an answer to my problem or that i have not explained myself correctly? Ciao Paul Give it a little time, sometimes it takes awhile to get an answer. Remember all the help is free, nobody is getting paid to sit around and come up with answers. Now the paypal problem is probably caused by the customer not clicking on continue to go back to your site after paying you. You can fiix that by installing This. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
user99999999 Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I think you want one of the newer paypal IPN gateways to solve your problem. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1753 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1466 The link in the email doesnt work because the customer is no longer logged in at that point. I would just replace it with something else.
Guest Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Sorry, I was probably as impatient as i was worried about posting in the right place etc. Just downloading the paypal fix and trying to figure where to find the place to change the e-mail link for the other. Ciao and thanks Paul
Guest Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 I have looked at both paypal fixes and gone off the idea as there are so many files to upload and change, i am frightened to try them. Firstly because my site is always very busy and i daren't mess it up etc. Also, time is in short supply as well. I must say, i am wondering if it is because of paypal implicating the new return url system and it not returning to me as default. Thanks Paul
wizardsandwars Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 I can't believe you actually went live with your store without checking those things out first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
user99999999 Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 You should create a local development environment. There are several packages that install Apache/PHP/mysql
Guest Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 I can't believe you actually went live with your store without checking those things out first. I did check the store out before going live and everything was fine, it just seems to be occassionally playing up and only recently. Paul
