Just about ready...

I have painstakingly pulled the whole script apart, page by page, and I'm almost ready to go live. (still got a few bits and pieces to sort out and edit)

Site is 99% CSS based in layout with just a few remnants of the original OC layout left. I thank the gods for BTS template system..

Ideas and opinions more than welcome..

The site in question!

Great site! It's very clean and makes great use of subtle transitions. I'm impressed.

The one comment I would make is the text color is frequently hard to read on the background. The darker blue, similar to what is used in the categories menu, doesn't work well on the center part of the page. The same goes for the red used in the contact us page.

Also, what do you use to generate the quotes? I'd like to do something similar on my site.

I'm still working on that text, thanks. The red is what's left over from the original theme, so still have to kill that. I tried to set the links to be a different colour in the center, but it has gremlins at the moment. That's on tomorrows list..

The quotes is a random generator script that I just put in there as an includes file. I had it for another site I did but we ran out of room. Didn't want to waste all those lovely quotes..

I can PM the script to you if you like? It's only a few lines and very easy to use.

LOVE IT! Great layout, that's my kinda store :)

Great site! I love what you did with the layout and the graphics. You definitely used the best of what OSC had to offer and pulled it together with your own touches. Looks good and easy to get around.

I noticed one thing. On the product info pages, the Reviews and Add to Cart buttons are almost impossible to see on my screen. They blend into the background. (I am on a Macintosh)

OH.. thanks for letting me know about that.

I set my screen brightness to max less 5 pushes of the button, but sometimes it's still too bright..

I will add that to my fix list :D

It looks good, you've made a good job of changing the layout to suit the product being sold.

A couple of comments, beneath the witchyshop banner, you have a LOT of empty space. I'd suggest using this space to include your My Account, Cart Contents, Checkout and Index links, this would move your categories list higher up in the left column and make them more easily seen by users with low res monitors.

Also, I'd move the searchbox to either above the categories, or include it in the space beneath the withyshop logo, with or without the moved links. I bet you'll be surprised by how many people use the searchbox, so I always think it's best being in a VERY prominent position.

One last thing, rename the link to the home page to "Home" rather than "index". You and I both know that "index" will take you to the home page, but I bet my mother wouldn't.

If I didn't see a link to your site here, I would not have guessed that you were using os Commerce. A lot of customizations here that look nice. The only critisism I have is that it is sorta hard to see the "add to cart" and "checkout" buttons. They are a very similar color to your background. Some contrast there might help customers get through the checkout process. The random quote feature is a neat idea.

WOW! Congratulations. It's quite a dramatic difference from the out-of-the-box osc templates... I am at the very beginning of my project launching my store and i'd like to have a fully custom layout like you do, so i'd love to hear more about your experiences! Feel free to PM me or share here in the topic...

My first question is ... why did you choose the BTS over the STS template system? From my initial looks, STS was easier to implement into a new design. Or am i missing something important?

BTS was just what I found in the contributions, by accident, decided to download it and have a look and was instantly HOOKED!

I haven't seen or used the STS yet..

I'm still pulling pages apart piece by piece at the moment
