Went live a week ago and have had a relatively decent week of sales thanks to a little bit of press coverage, some viral marketing and a few Google Adwords thrown in for good measure.

Now over to the real acid test :D what do fellow osC-ers make of it...

I really like your layout and color scheme. The flash intro is nice, informational, and not splashy.

There's a little bit of a disconnect for me (warning: high brow aesthetics here :) ) when going to a product page. The boxes on the left expand beyond what you had on your homepage, but the body/content area in the center contracts up quite a bit. Is there anyway you can rework these pages to have a more consistent layout with the homepage? Maybe get rid of some of the boxes (I've created a small button within the content area for tell a friend) and expand the body down a bit?

Also on the intro page you have a box where your logo is on the product pages. This extends the orange bar at the top all the way across the page and feels very comfortable to the eye. I'm wondering if you can work a faux extension into your logo (does that make sense)?

Just some thoughts. I really like the site though! These are really just uber knit-picky. :)

Your footer background is still the default grey colour, but all in all, it looks good

*thumbs up*

Nice looking site.

I like the flash animations you have for your top two category pages. Made me want to click more to see the other categories. I was a bit dissapointed that there weren't any more after that :(

Guys,

Many thanks for all the constructive comments. I need to get back into "cosmetic" mode and will make most of the changes suggested here.

Joshua - thanks for pointing out the "disconnect" issue. I hadn't really noticed it, but now you mentioned it, it's staring me in the face :-) Thanks for the tips too on how to tweak it. I'll have a play later.

Thanks Tim for the comment that the flash category headers made you want to click on more - sorry there weren't any more - the truth is I got bored of building them and had to get on with more fundamental osC config type things ;-)

Will make most of these changes over the next few days. Just need to sort out a bigger issue first though - have noticed a lot of my customers are "giving up" at the Create An Account stage. Need to implement the mods to avoid the neccessity for account creation.

Cheers... H.

First before I say anything I also sell coffee but am still working on my osC site.

I find your Fair Trade black box on the upper left corner of your home page hard to read, reversing the colours may make it fit in better with the rest of the page. Also the SCAE logo in the bottom right is hard to read also.

Why so few grinds? We have turkish, espresso stove top, espresso pump, fine, basket filter, gold filter, bodum, perk, and beans.

What I didn't find was information about FairTrade. I would include some about why fairtrade is important, why the farmers are exploited, how purchasing fairtrade helps them, blah, blah, blah. Also you may want to check out which ones are certified organic, bird friendly, water processed decaf. Get all the marketing algles covered.

Your pics of the coffees aren't bad but I personally have never liked that approach because if they aren't done well then they can turn people off purchasing the coffee and will never truely represent what they are getting (especially since you use the same pics for every coffee). Have you thought about trying it using your labels instead.

I love your right hand banner approach. Makes everything important right where I am looking.

For something such as coffee where people are taking a chance buying it something such as customer reviews might help.

I like the site, good luck Wendy.

Peter

Edit

If you sell in the US you will have to be registered with the FDA and give them prior notice of any incoming shipments along with FDA product codes and HTS tax codes. Start Here

Mmmm. fairtrade coffee... I feel an order coming on...

Excellently straightforward. really like the colours.

My only comments would be:

1. The "click to enlarge" functionality is a bit redundant for these products. It's not as if you find anything out from it...

2. It'd be nicer if you had flash banners for all the sections, rather than just a couple.

3. You might want to lose the cliparty surfing man on the account creation completion page.

PS holtyboy - we have a mutual friend - I'm in Jem Bunce's church down in Newquay.
