osCommerce Configuration

The following error has occurred:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

cd /home/asbillf/public_html/overclockpc/oscommerce/catalog/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

cd /home/asbillf/public_html/overclockpc/oscommerce/catalog/admin/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777.

If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created.

Hi. I'm really on my last legs tonight, but here goes.

1 you will find the answer in the via http://wiki.oscommerce.com/helpInstallNew . Basically you have the wrong permissions for some files. Files with 777 can be read by anyone and are a security risk. The installation programme won't let you continue until you change it/them.

If you use CUTE FTP look for the file properties. There are three properties roughly as follows a) only you B) your group c) the world. each has a value of either 1, 2 or 3 so you can have three numbers of any conbination of 1 + 2 + 3 which is between 111,112, 113 etc to 777.

Further if a file being written to does not open to your ftp prgramme(which is a group) files can't be updated - so installation stopd again.

Hope you have it sorted by now as I really am over the edge.
