I need help with ssl configuration

DSD

Recommended Posts

Can someone please help me with this ssl configuration? I have read another post by someone else having trouble, so I followed all the steps, like, at least 4 times and my images still won't show up.

Thanks,

DSD

Try these. If it still doesn't work post your dsdmerch/includes/configure.php file

Also check your hosting to see if they require a special secure folder for https access.

// Define the webserver and path parameters

// * DIR_FS_* = Filesystem directories (local/physical)

// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.desertsundesigns.net'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'www.desertsundesigns.net');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'secure49.nocdirect.com/~dsdmerch');

define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/dsdmerch/');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/dsdmerch/');

Also, I noticed that when I right click on where the pics are supposed to be, here's the url it is showing:

https://secure49.nocdirect.com/dsdmerch/ima...round_login.gif

it doesn't have the ~jdeserts in the address, where can I change this?

shouldn't the address look like this?

https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts/ds...round_login.gif

I think this could be part of the problem, but I don't know where or what to change to fix it.

Thank you,

DSD

The server address should be just that, the server address

This is the ssl https address of your root: https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts

Realize how the software and config file work. It is adding these segments together to get the path to whatever it needs.

The cookie domain is a storage area for the software in the client machine so that it can find the site again if it switches to another domain, as you do when you go to ssl and back.

What do I need to do to make this work? I have also made changes to the admin/includes/configure.php file.

here is my includes/configure.php file

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.desertsundesigns.net');

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts');

define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'www.desertsundesigns.net');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts');

define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/dsdmerch/');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', '/dsdmerch/images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', '/dsdmerch/icons/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

define('DIR_WS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', 'pub/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', dirname($HTTP_SERVER_VARS['SCRIPT_FILENAME']));

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'download/');

define('DIR_FS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'pub/');

and my admin/includes/configure.php file

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://desertsundesigns.net');

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', '');

define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts');

define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); // secure webserver for catalog module

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', $DOCUMENT_ROOT); // where your pages are located on the server. if $DOCUMENT_ROOT doesnt suit you, replace with your local path. (eg, /usr/local/apache/htdocs)

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/dsdmerch/admin/');

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT . DIR_WS_ADMIN);

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/dsdmerch/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT . DIR_WS_CATALOG);

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icons/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_LANGUAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/languages/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_IMAGES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'images/');

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG_MODULES', DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'includes/modules/');

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backups/');

Are these files correct?

Thank you,

DSD

Here: https://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts/ds.../oscommerce.gif

You see how the paths need to add up?

damn! The board s/w truncates the link

it's xttps://secure49.nocdirect.com/~jdeserts/dsdmerch/images/oscommerce.gif

swap the x for an h, then copy and paste.

I understand how the paths need to add up, but I can't find anything wrong with my configure.php files.

Will you proof them for me, just to make sure they are right?

Thank you,

DSD

These are wrong

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', '/dsdmerch/images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', '/dsdmerch/icons/');

they should be

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', 'icons/');

The s/w already has the first part, it just needs the next bit.

Thank you so much!!! :D :D For finding that for me, I have been trying to get this to work all day, I knew it was probably something simple, that I overlooked and didn't realize it was a problem.

Thanks again,

DSD

Just help out the next person who has problems getting the s/w going.

The configure files are very simple once you understand them, but for someone new they're very confusing.

It's easier to install the store manually than it is to use the installer if you know what you're doing.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I usually install these things manually, but I just used the installer with the cpanel this time, and it was much more difficult. They are much easier when you install them manually because they come with instructions too. :D
