The e-commerce.

The site is set up

Recommended Posts

I was told in an earlier post when testing to see if my site works, that I needed some sort of SSL Certificate, which allows for the "S" in the HTTPS....also when I go live I would need a service like "Aurhorization.net" OR some OTHER service to do it.....to allow as the 'middle man' to make the actual CC Transaction occurance at the Bank level.

I also have noticed that when at the "order out" portion of the site, there should bear DIFFERENT Url that's not the one I host my site on, but a URL that says something like: https://secure.domainname.net

If I can find out the procedure to get this done I think that should do it.

Thank you

Consult with your webhost - most are able to provide a certificate at a reasonable price (you can shop around also) - your host will install the cert for you and give you the correct URL, then you must reconfigure osCommerce to enable SSL. Many hosts will only allow you to use their shared certificate - your own is a better option if you are able as your URL will only change to https://yoursite.com.

osCommerce comes with a number of payment gateway modules - there are also others in the contributions section - you must shop around and do the math to decide which is best for you and your business and your expected transactions.
