I'm a total newby and totaly over my head with this, but I will learn...

I'm installing this on osx panther, I think I have installed php correctly but not sure. After I run the cataglog/install. The main page comes up I click on Install a new online store and get this message below. Has anyone installed this on osx? is there any good documentation on the web?

Thanks in Advance

Here is the what happens after I click install a new store
