The e-commerce.

No IP Log Why?

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon,

today I discovered that a check remboursement was made with a fake cheque [ this is a crime ]

So the problem is tracing the buyer and we have:

- delivery address [ fake - he got the parcel at the courier depot ]

- telephone number [ cellular phone - stolen ]

Again the only way to trace the buyer is via the IP, but there is no IP log in Oscommerce. [ I should have kept the apache log ]

There is also another problem:

Anywhere a user is allowed to post information on the web, for ex Reviews, the IP HAS TO BE REGISTERED, otherwise the webmaster is liable for what has been written.

I think the IP log is a BASIC feature and should be added immediately

[ if it has been added now delete this post but in mileston 2.2 was not ]

All the Best to all the oscommers users & developers

  • 2 weeks later...

IP Address logging has now been added to the CVS version and will be available in MS-3.

So I followed the instructions for MS2.2 and made the required changes.

I placed a test order and when I look under Orders in ADMIN I see the order # and ip address headings but only the order # is populated for my test order. The ip address isn't populated. I looked in my database and found my IP address stored where it's supposed to be. Why isn't it showing up on the order page?
