narked
when I installed osCommerce I chose a "x" name for the directory. but now Im thinking in a better name for it. Is it a lot of problem to change it? because if I just rename the folder, all the files that make referemce to the directory name are not going to work anymore. does someone know how many files would I need to change? another thing that would be best for me is insted of havin a directory www.domain.com/catalog install the catalog in the main directory so that when you enter www.domain.com you are already in the store. have anyone tried out that? I know I could use just a php forward in my default page so that when you enter you are redirected to the catalog directory but I dont know how search engine spiders take that, and why forward every time if yu just can put it in the main directory. guanche
Yes, install it into you main directory that way your store will reside at www.yourdomain.com instead of www.yourdomain.com/catalog this has been done by many osc shops.

sosidge
I think all you need to modify is in includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php. Wherever you see a reference to "/catalog" or whatever you have called the catalog directory, remove it - that way osCommerce will start it's search for the file required in the root directory, not the catalog directory. Hope that helps. - osCommerce is fun! -
