Still need help configuring my shop

 I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere, but I can't find it. I have installed oscommerce, but can't figure out how to make it work. I changed the product pictures and uploaded the pic. files, but they still won't show up. Also, I don't know how to change the links so when you click on the pictures they are added to the cart. Basically, I am having trouble converting the sample shop I start off with into MY shop that can be added to my website. I also checked the Wiki site for answers, but must not be looking in the right place. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I can see all the outlines of your tables is this meant

do you have sts installed or is this another issue that you have

The links seem to work ok however I did notice that you have the default.php instead of index.php which leads me to think that this is a version 2.1 oscommerce and not a 2.2MS2 version as you are in the very early stages my advice would be to download the milestone 2.2MS2 version from here Click and install it as it as more improved features

If in doubt ask one of the moderator team or the forum but I would use the milestone 2.2MS2 version

Thanks. That is the version I have, 2.2MS2, so how to I switch from the default.php to the index.php? Also, sorry I don't know what sts is. This is my first time using oscommerce, and I've never had an online store before. My shop says it is based on osCommerce 2.2-CVS. I am figuring out some things, but still can't get my pictures to show up.

That's not the version you want to be running.

I'd toss that and download the MS2 version as previously mentioned.

You'll get little support here if you're not running the standard version.

:( Ok, I downloaded the 2.2MS2 version and now I have a whole new set of problems. Now I see why there are so many questions about how to install it,lol. The version I had was an auto install from my web server. The 2.2MS2 install file is a php file, so I have to figure out how to install it by reading it, and it is very confusing (to me) I'm not sure if I will ever figure this all out.

It's not hard. Hundreds of others have done it.

You already know the answers to the questions since they're in the old config files.

Just send it up to the server and type in http://ashleystreasurechest.net/catalog/install

Do you have an ftp program? How are you changing the site now?

Well, the version I'm using right now was an auto install from my web server, so I didn't have to manualy install it. All the files and folders automatically installed into my server. I got the pictures to work, and the links, but I don't know how to run it from the index.php instead of the default.php. And I don't know how to edit the content -

"This is a demonstration online-shop, any products purchased will not be delivered nor billed. Any information seen on these products are to be treated fictional."

into a working shop.

If wishes were horses beggars would ride.

The reason default.php is not index.php is because it's an old version osCommerce.

Trust me, you will regret building a whole shop on a version that's out of date the day you start.
