i am getting this error message: see what i have done.

i unzipped osc into a folde ron my laptop and then uploaded to my site in html folder using ftp.

all first five steps of installation works fine expect at 7 i get this message.

i dont have pgysical contact with the server so please remeber that.

now what i did.

all files have the chmmode set to 666. it doesnt change at all other than go to 444. i have tried all modes. when i right clik on my file on ftp softwrae, i then click on properties and then i change the mode to 644 as asked in wiki docs or 777. but as soon as i chnage the directory or go to a diff directory it goes back to 666 and start giving me sam error.

its just like i cant change the mode permanently for my file. i am using coreftp its better than wsftp and works same way. anyone who has any fricking clue please helpme out before either my head explodes or i throw away my laptop.

please help!!!!! anyone who writes this osc, comeone, atlest come up with decent or easy installation procedure.

thanks

Well, logically I would say that it's definitively not a problem of osC! :-)

Does your web-server/hosting company have a control panel with a file

manager somewhere? If yes, try changing the permissions of the 2 configure.php

files through it!

You could also try another FTP-program! Oh, and maybe contact your host!

administrator!

It appears that you are running a Windows server. The file permisssion are not set correct so IIS folders can write to your files.

If your ftp program allows you to chnge permission do it there. Otherwise your web host providor will have to set permisssion for you. Whatever files in the documention says set to 777, you have to give full permissions to everyone. Also, need to set 706 on another file.

You weill need add permsion to your /tmp directory so session cookies can be added.

Any one here able to write full windows instructions. Needed for 2000, 2003 and XP so each one is diferent.

Get me more details on your host and I can be more specific.

figured out...

solutions:

on windows on ur own pc:

right click on ur catalog folder.

click shareing

add sharing etc... clikc ok.... u r all set.

if it still doesnt work

go to catalog/include/configure.php and catalog/admin/include/configure.php and then right click and see if they are checked as read-only. un check that coz u want them to be writeable.

running on a server:

access ur server using a ftp client like wsftp or coreftp

go to those 2 files and right clikc and then it will ask u in wsft linuxchmd and in coreftp right clikc, props, and then check all of them to be on. it will tell u the no. 777, this means u, public, group can write, read and execute.

if it still doesnt work and u get the error. dont waste ur time by putting questions in forums. then email ur host server and ask them to do it for u or have them allow u certain rights to do that. u r all set.

check wikki docs in contributions for fresh install docs etc.......

hoep it will help. questions pm me .

bye
