chrisw
Hi, I installed one of these a couple of weeks ago and didn't have a single problem at installation. I have just put 2 more on a server and have received the following error. I have changed the chmod settings as suggested but this doesn't help matters. I am at the end of my tether with this !! Can anybody help me please ?? Thanks Chris New Installation osCommerce Configuration The following error has occurred: The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set. Please perform the following actions: cd /home/wholesal/public_html/catalog/includes/ touch configure.php chmod 706 configure.php cd /home/wholesal/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/ touch configure.php chmod 706 configure.php If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777. If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created. simaster99
all you have to do is set the file configure.php to read only or chmod to a read only file. dont panic! the configure file has to be writen to during install, but after install this is not the case! chrisw
Hi, I thank you for the time taken to reply however, this hasn't worked. I have so far changed my chmod settings to 444 (read only), 706 and 777 as sugessted on the error report but to no avail. I may try a fresh install and see if that gets me anywhere. I can't fathem it at all. Any further suggestions would be grateful. Best Regards Chris
