nrlatsha
Just finished a complete rebuild of my site. There are a few things I'm still adding, but I need to get it up and running because frankly, looking at my first site, I'm embarrassed Old one: /Shop New One: /catalog/ I know I need to redo my descripts, and I don't have it fully populated, I'm working on modifying easy populate to work with my added fields as we speak... if you want to order something, use check/MO, login with [email protected], pass: testing. Or create an account for yourself. Test has 5% off all prices. 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine... Guest
Hiya, I would definatly say that your new site is much better than your old one . One thing that I would say though is this. I'm on a 21" monitor with a huge resolution and because your site is 100% width the header looks a bit funny because it just covers the middle. Over all though - pretty good! compas
Hi, I can't really compare these sites because "shop" is being redirected to "catalog". Your "catalog" Site looks nice, but not catchy, because of your exclusive products I would choose a more "classy" style for your shop. I guess you should make your site 800*600 because i have to scroll too much. Keep on trying.... ;)
Guest
This is one of the nicer oscommerce shops, however, if your selling 1000 dollar items, your going to need MANY more pictures. As a consumer I would not purchase a product on your site because lack of information.
Guest
I suggest you list your products in columns instead of rows. It's much easier to read and looks more elegant. Your header could use some tweaking to match the rest of your site. I clicked on both links above and the look exactly the same.
nrlatsha
After I posted this, I realized I needed to re-direct from the old store to the new, For search engines that had my old info and what not. Thank you to everyone for the suggestions. Noel 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine... Chance
I don't really agree with the more pictures comment. When you had posted this site before, I looked at the other large diamond market sites and they too only have one small image. I understand that the focus is on the stone's grade, quality, rating, or whatever and you have included that in a nice table. My only recomendation would be that you make that product info spec table variable width, because it looks a bit odd centered and small in the page on my 1280x1024 monitor. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. nrlatsha
Great! Excellent point, I didn't even think of that. Variable tables already implemented. Thanks Chance! Items put into columns also, I like that better as well! Thanks Bruin_03! This is great feedback everyone, fantastic! Keep it coming, you can tear into it, it's the only you learn. 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine... mattwho
ho did you add all the pcitures and stuff not in a box on the front page?
nrlatsha
Lots of mods to index.php. Still in the same format though, just in tables and everythings tightened up. Its a six celled table with the pics and writing in each of the cells. Column_right is still there, just empty and obviously stripped down to only the stuff I needed. Thought long and hard about whats needed and whats not needed. Bestsellers - nahh, don't need em, I have the bestsellers on the fron page. Reviews - Not too many people writin reviews, when I get enough testimonials, I may add that contro, but for now, not needed. Lang - Theres only one Currencies - only one... Specials - figure I'll just inform any specials on the front page somewhere. Login box - Nice contrib, even modded it myself, but looked at the big sites to see what they do, my login page looks kinda similar to amaz0ns. Whats new? - Once fully, fully populated, not gonna be a lot of new stuff, if so, I'll put it on the front page again. Manufacturers - Once again, I didn't think it added anything for my site. The rest of it's mostly contribs... available or my own, the prod_info tables are dynamically driven depending on the types of items and all info is pulled from dbase. 9 times out of 10 its a PEBCAK Error (Problem exists between chair and keyboard) Replace that and you're fine...
