coves
Who can explain why I need a SSL Certificate when the merchant accounts handle all their information securly??? Is not having an SSL certificate preventing my merchant account from showing up during a purchase? Note; I currently have SSL disabled on my site to allow all the php pages to work properly. coves
Ok, the SSL Certificate protects the customers personal information. I am currently running with it turned off. Are other sites running with it off and the merchant accounts working correctly?
AlanR
You're right. SSL is kind of a sales tool though. It makes you look more serious. In reality, since your payment information is handled securely the chance that someone will snatch anything important in transit is tiny. You're not Amazon. All that said though, I do have an ssl cert. It's not expensive, I pay $5 a month and to me that's not a big deal if I'm putting a lot of effort and time into the store. ♥yesudo
Our card payments are handled securley via our merchant account - we still though secure our account area to protect customer details, address details etc... Gives the customer a better feeling of security which will hopefully make them more likely to purchase from you. Your online success is Paramount. coves
Ok, thank very much for the information on the SSL Cetificate, I now understand the value of them and will first pursue grabbing a shared one from my hosting company. Thanks again... At this point I now believe that I am barking up the wrong tree, that the real problem is that my merchant accounts are not showing up for selection during a purchase.... and that this has nothing to do with an SSL certificate. Any ideas on what may be going on???
♥yesudo
sorry - simple question are they installed and set-up in admin ? Your online success is Paramount.
coves
Yes, I have Paypal and 2Checkout setup. When I initially set them up, they were showing up as selections during a purchase (although a complete purchase was not made) and now they no longer show up as selection and I get the following error "Please select a payment method for your order." Thanks.
Guest
make sure your zone selection is none else it will not show up unless the buyer is from that zone. This is found in the setting of the payment module.
