Order email with credit card info gone?

Hi, we have been using OS commerce for quite some time and this is the first time that we did not receive the order email. The order email has some of the credit card info. At this point, we have an order and only some of the creditcard # because the email with the rest never arrived. Is here some way besides contacting the customer to get this info?

I had the same thing happen. I sent an email to the customer asking them to call their credit card information in. Later the email did arrive, seemed to be a problem with my provider where the message was held for a little while during some maintenance they were performing.


The portion of the credit card which is sent in the email is not stored anywhere on the server or in log files, if it was then this wouldn't be a secure solution for processing credit cards.


I suggest you contact your customer as quick as possible, that way they see the level of service you provide (it would be really bad if you let a day or two pass before contacting them). You can explain that for security reasons, your system divides their credit card information into multiple pieces and stores them in different places - and you are missing one of the pieces (you should probably only ask them for the middle portion of the number). They are always happy to know that you are making sure that their credit card information is secure.
