The template you said to get, is the same as now accept its sickly yellow/brown, but nothing else changes??

For a total beginner, not even touched html before, thought done ok as so many stuff that needed changing to operate properly and fix bugs etc.

So how to tackle stylesheet... ok?

step by step?

That particular template changes the layout, the look of the infoboxes etc etc. All you then need to do is decide on a colour scheme, and change it in the stylesheet.

The sickoy colours are like that so that you can change them to something better

Well, I was trying to be constructive for you - that template would give you a good base to make changes to your site.

It changes a lot more than the colours.

But for now, just be content to know that I think your shop is a shining example of "nothingness". Just a couple of hours spent tweaking and you could have a much nicer store - guess that just aint you though :(

Steve there is no magic contribution that will make your store the best one on the net. Building an eCommerce website is not something a beginner who has no experence with basic HTML, much less advanced PHP scripting, should even attempt to undertake.

If you want to learn with osCommerce, then more power to you. Get in the code, break stuff, and learn how it works. Don't give people a hard time on these forums for pushing you to make your site better- you posted for review and one of the most experenced people with osC customization on the board told you the only thing you need to know:

Put time in to developing your site.

My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you.

Hard and Cynical: How to Make a Horrible osCommerce Site

Warm and Fuzzy: How to Make an Awesome osCommerce Site

Positive people here then !!!

As i said in the top post boys, is solutions are as important as critisism.

The way the template is shown in the gif, looks no different as i said above, BUT if it enables me to do something different that can't be done with what i have now, then TELL ME/EXPLAIN.

I cant believe someone suggesting not to touch with no experience? I am on the hand open minded and plenty of people on here have given me help/advise enabling me to make the changes that not even experienced people have done, like adding pages, making paypal see totals, moving columns, making page headings work, requirements in sign up, headings, generally changing the 'mechanics' using html. Most of which are the 'base oscommerce' to be changed/fixed to even make it operational in the first place.

But its no good saying to someone who knows nothing about car engines, 'just' tweak it !!

I have said no where that i want the best site on the web, just a bit of guidance here and there, with explanations, as people have done so far and have been brilliant. And i have even been able to pass fixes etc to people that have come in since me. Yes thats right, the favours returned. Perhaps we should all remember we were beginners once and get off our 'high horses'

Please do not leave feedback if not supported without positive solution, as it only wastes your time and time. ;)

Hi Steve

Your site is a bit basic and not that appealing considering you have stuff on there selling for 1.5k - tis a lot of money to part with! My suggestion would be that you get to know the way that the basic structure works - ie the english folder being the main one for visual reading and getting your message over and the root folder being the next.

How are you with paint shop pro? I am crap! But i managed to change all the buttons to suit my site and not be OS standard ones. Go to dafont.com and download a lot of fonts. These can be used to change all the default osc image quite easily (it the man on board and my account gif etc). I am not a programmer, but you should invest in a book on PHP - I got PHP and MYSQL for dummies! It is good.

Prob sounds really stupid, but have you a test site set up and that? If not get one cos it is real useful.

I hope that is constructive to you. Please get in touch if you want me to run on any more. I am only to pleased to share my somewhat limited experience! :D
