New Install- Step 2 Problems

Hi,

 

My config is apache (v1 latest), php and mysql on windows xp. I want to host oscommerce locally.

 

I have managed to get to the install page. However, on step 2 I keep getting this error message:

 

A test connection made to the database was NOT successful.

 

The error message returned is:

 

Access denied for user: 'gameshop@localhost' (Using password: YES)

 

Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings.

 

If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company.

 

During installation of php, mysql, apache I followed the instructions given in the php mysql web development 2nd edition book by luke welling and laura thomson published by sam. During these instructions they recommended deleting the anonymous user? Could this be the problem???

 

Any ideas????

 

Database server set to: localhost

Username: gameshop

Database name: eshop

Hi,

 

An update, managed to create and import the osCommerce sample data database manually using the instructions. However still have the same problem, but its now step 6 of the install.

 

To anyone that can help me, I would like to say a big thanks.
