majortom2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I need to add size and color options to many of the products in my store. I can't seem to find what I am looking for. The only thing I found on the forums is that there are some contribs that have this. My OSCommerce Admin panel has a Products Attributes section under Catalog. I was assuming this is how you do it but I quickly became confused. Can someone let me know if I am headed in the right direction with this 'Products Attributes' section or if I have to have a custom contrib implemented. I just need to add two drop downs where the shopper can pick the size and the color they want from a list I create when I add the product to the catalog. Thanks in advance for any help.
Guest Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Yes i belive this is correct - product attributtes is where you add all your colours and sizes for the products
majortom2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Author Posted March 15, 2004 OK, I used the Products Attributes with some success. I appears that this will work for me but seems very tedious. Maybe I am not doing it right. Is there a tutorial somewhere for this section?
Guest Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 in the contribs section there is something you can dowload called the "Attributes copier" this allows you to add the same sizes/colours for the products - here is more info: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1664
Guest Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Yes I agree it's not one of the easiest systems for entering the variable product attributes. I managed to work it out a bit last night but couldn't work out how to make different prices for the different attributes: EX: product A: white ?1.00, green: ?1.50, etc etc. If anybody can tell me how to do this ( I could be missing something obvious I accept this) then I would be very grateful. dburchm1 Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Hi You can add as many special attributes as you want. An example. http://www.mountainoutdoor.com/catalog/pro...?products_id=44 Once you have set up your attributes, if you have a lot of products to add the same attribute to you can use phpmyadmin and go in a set the attribute links up in the database. ornito Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 I'm havin trouble with attributes. The merchant sells oils and it comes in three different size bottles so I made an attribute called size and I made three size values for it called 5 ml, 10 ml, and 30 ml. OK, I set up size for one of the products but it only displays ONE size in the pulldown. Do I have to add 3 sizes for each product? She's only got about 2 million different types of oil!! YUK!! And another problem: I can't just subtract a standard amount for the 5ml and add a standard amount for the 30, because each type of oil she sells OK it's a different price. So How can I transmit to the customer the 3 different prices (depending on size) for EACH different oil product?
