Guest Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 In December 2003 the FDA started requiring all food manufactuers to be registered. This applies to all Domestic production facilities as well as Foreign facilities that manufacture/process/pack or hold food that is destined for the USA. In OSC terms if you sell food and have customers in the USA you will have to register your company and if you are a foreign company you will also have to provide the FDA with Prior Notice that you are sending a shipment to the USA. I t is not as hard or as bad as it sounds. Just fill out the registration (5 minutes) and then when you ship to the USA go to thier web site and fill out the form notifying them that you are making a shipment. Info can be found at: http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~furls/ovffreg.html Peter
Guest Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 You're not being very accurate here. Retailers are NOT subject to the new requirements. It would only apply to a manufacturer. That would mean most people here likely wouldn't need to register.
dalaca Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 I'm a retailer and I was trying to send out a product on thursday. I didn't know about the FDA laws changing. Now I trying to figure out how to get the product over the border. Just fill out the registration (5 minutes) and then when you ship to the USA go to thier web site and fill out the form notifying them that you are making a shipment. I didn't know about this...now I have to figure this out! What would be good, would be a contribution that would be able to autofill the notification form when going to the FDA, or something like that. D Keep on truckin' D
